60 foreigners detained in Greater Noida by UP Police

60 foreigners are detained and nearly five kilograms of cannabis are seized here at Greater Noida on Wednesday by the Uttar Pradesh police as they do not have valid travel documents. The police suspects that the foreign nationals are  involved in illegal liquor and drug business.

On this, SSP Noida -Vaibhav Krishna stated, “We conducted a drive to identify them as constant alleges of being involved in illegal liquor and drug business, have been coming against them and we have caught over 60 foreigners who don’t have valid documents. Seventeen of them have expired visas and eight of them have a fake visa.”

All this has happened under the Operation Clean 10 – run by Gautam Buddh Nagar police to keep a check on foreign nationals staying here without valid travel documents or were involved in criminal activities. Action against foreign nationals is the 10th drive under ‘Operation Clean’.

Further the police officer informed, “The detained foreigners include 32 men and 28 women. Of the 320 foreign nationals who underwent the verification process, visas of 260 persons turned out to be valid.”

Almost all of those held are from eight African countries, including Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Ivory Coast and Angola, as said the police.

Over 222 beer bottles, five kilograms of cannabis, 6 laptops, and 114 Airtel SIM cards were recovered from their possession. The police is looking into the matter and the investigations are on.
