Following a recent landslide and accidents, the district administration has banned the entry of tourists in Malshej ghat till july 31st.To experience the beauty of nature and enjoy waterfalls that literally spring to life during the monsoon, quite a lot of tourists from Mumbai, Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik visit Malshej Ghat, for that reason, the decision has been taken by authorities to avoid any untoward incident. The written order has been given by Thane district collector Rajesh Narvekar.
The district police will be keeping a close eye on waterfalls and two tourists spots developed by the tourism department.
The ban has also been extended to Ganesh Leni, Padale Dam and Siddhagad, along both sides of the ghat.
Though vehicular movement will be as usual, but motorists won’t be able to stop on the way to soak in the weather or take selfies.
On weekends and holidays, police personnel will be deployed in the area.
“At least two officers and 35 police personnel will be deployed in the ghat on Saturday, Sunday and the connecting holidays.
The deployment will be at four waterfalls and the points developed by the MTDC. Some officers without official uniform will also be keeping an eye on tourists,” said API Suhas Kharmata.
He also said that those violating norms will be dealt with strictly.
