Northeast India : On Its Way Of Infra Developmental Programme : Centre To Bear The Entire Expenditure

As per a recent declaration, the Central government of India will bear the entire expenditure for special infrastructure development in the country’s northeastern part, revealed by an official. Earlier the practice was of 90:10 funding ratio of northeast projects under the NLCPR (Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources) flagship scheme – 90 per cent funds were given by the Centre and 10 per cent by the respective state governments.

However, among others, the prime sector that comes under this developmental plan is, Civil Aviation and Tourism.

By god’s grace all the eight states of North East India are blessed with scenic natural beauty, salubrious weather, rich biodiversity, rare wild life, historical sites, distinct cultural and ethnic heritage and warm – welcoming people. The region offers unforgettable visits for tourists interested in wild life, religious, cultural and ethnic tourism, river cruises and golf etc. In adventure tourism the region also occupies an important place by offering great scope for the activities like trekking and mountaineering.

The region is also abudant of with a number of wildlife sanctuaries like Kaziranga National Park famous for the one horned rhinoceros, Manas National Park, Dibru, Nameri, Orang,  Saikhowa in Assam, Namdhapha in Arunachal Pradesh, Balpakram in Meghalaya, Keibul Namjao in Manipur, Intanki in Nagaland, Khangchendzonga in Sikkim. Puls tourists can enjoy memorable river cruises on the mighty Brahmaputra that flows through the length of Assam and on the rivers of Arunachal Pradesh which feed the Brahmaputra offering incredible white water rafting experiences.

So if developed and promoted properly, the region can emerge as the biggest employer of the country. Further such development can add to the growth of the nation also.

Last week,  minister MDoNER (Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region) Jitendra Singh met the MPs of the eight northeastern states in New Delhi and discussed with them about the ongoing schemes and future plans of the Central government for the development of the region.

Along with the tourism industry, other sectors that come under this developmental programme are : Roads, Livelihood, Piggery, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and Health and Nutrition.
