Saudi Arabia’s robotic citizen Sophia has a baby sister

CALIFORNIA: A Silicon Valley-based company made a robot, named Little Sophia which apart from talking to children and singing songs also teaches them the language and skill of decoding a programme.

Designed and prepared by Hansen robotics, Little Sophia is 36 centimetres long. Experts have named it ‘education Alexa’.

Back in 2017, Saudi Arabia granted citizenship to a robot named Sophia to underline its hi-tech ambitions at an exhibition previewing major development projects. Little Sophia is said to be the baby-sister of Saudi Arabia’s Sophia.

Literally walking in the footsteps of her old sister, little Sophia has various features that includes talking, singing, playing games and telling jokes. Her main object though, is to teach kids—’especially girls’—between the ages of seven and 13 about STEM, coding and AI. With little sophia’s software, and included tutorials through hanson’s AI academy, she is a ‘unique programmable, educational companion for kids, inspiring children to learn through a safe, interactive, human-robot experience’.It also has augmented reality functions due to which before changing its clothes you can see its real face.

It should be noted that this is an on-going experiment which in 59 days has garnered funding of $75000 on kickstarter. The price of the robot is $99 for early buyers.
