Delhi Metro services to be partially curtailed at these stations for Beating Retreat Ceremony on 29th January

The Delhi Metro Rail services will be partly curtailed tomorrow on Tuesday as a part of the security arrangements for the Beating Retreat ceremony. According to Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) official guidelines, metro schedules at two stations of Yellow Line have been partially modified for 29th January. The changes are as follows:

On the event of the Beating Retreat ceremony, the entry and exit at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan metro stations will be remain closed between 2:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Apart from Gate No 1, rest of the entry and exit points will be closed at Central Secretariat Station from 2:00 pm to 4:00 PM. Thus, passengers those who need to navigate between these routes are advised to choose another connectivity option during the above-mentioned period.

On the other hand, the interchanging of trains from Line 2 to Line 6 (Kashmiri Gate to Raja Nahar Singh) and vice versa will be allowed at Central Secretariat Metro station during the time. Normal services at these stations will be restored at 6:30 PM.

Metro services at all other section (Blue Line, Red Line, Pink Line, Green Line, Violet Line) of the DMRC will remain as usual on Tuesday.

Every year on 29th January ,Beating the Retreat ceremony being  organised at the Vijay Chowk which  marks the culmination of the four-day-long Republic Day celebrations. In early 1950s Major Roberts of the Indian Army developed the unique ceremony of display by the massed bands.

This ceremonial tradition is the continuation of the century-old military tradition when the troops ceased fighting, sheathed their arms and withdrew from the battlefield and returned to the camps at sunset at the sounding of the Retreat.
