Facilitating Tourism along with Business, Massive Expansion and Addition Programme has been planned in the aviation sector In India. South Indian States are prominently in focus.
The expansion of the aviation market in India is now at an accelerated mode.The aviation sector across these South Indian states – Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, is also among other front-runners. All most all airports here are in expansion mode.
With developed infrastructures, better connectivity, increased flight frequency, higher passenger traffic and longer runways the big three airports —Rajahmundry (Hyderabad), Kadapa (Visakhapatnam) and Tirupati (Vijayawada),
are set to see operations this year. Along with this Kurnool and Nellore are the recent additions to the list of airports and Warangal, Nizamabad, Kothagudem are among the few names which are going to follow them up. Also Donakonda (Prakasam district) and Bobilli (Vizianagaram) will join the lineup, according to officials of Airports Authority of India (AAI).
Before initiating the expansion project, there has been an extensive study to confirm the feasibility of the locations .In this context,G M S Rao, Vijayawada’s airport director who was part of the survey team said, “Wide surveys have been conducted to ascertain the feasibility of the proposed locations and the results have been positive. Now, either AAI or the state government should come forward to implement the projects. However the project comes under the Udan-Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS).”
Once done, the project will be highly beneficiary to the locales, as it will boost businesses within and outside the states. Apart from facilitating the tourism sector, connecting cities with strong air networks, will smoothen the import-export business for sure ensuring a better earning as well. Apart from these expansion programmes, India plans to increase the number of airports to between 150 and 200 by 2035, from existing about 100 at present.
