According to,K. J. Alphons, Union Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism, the Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned 73 projects as on date under Swadesh Darshan Scheme with Central Financial Assistance for Rs. 5873.26 crores covering 30 states/UT Administrations.

It is to be noted that Swadesh Darshan Scheme was launched in 2014-15 for the integrated development of theme based tourist circuits in the country. This scheme is envisioned with the initiative of positioning the tourism sector as a major engine for job making, driving force for economic development, building synergy with various sectors to facilitate tourism to realise its potential.
The sanctioning of new projects are a continuous process under Swadesh Darshan scheme. The Projects to be developed under this scheme are decided with the consultations of the respective State Governments/UT Administrations from where the projects identified and are sanctioned subject to availability of funds, submission of suitable detailed project reports, fulfilment to scheme guidelines and utilization of funds released previously. All the projects sanctioned under the circuits are at different stages of implementation.
