Chinese tourists are in prominence on destinations far and wide. Talking about the winter tourism, as recorded, around 197 million Chinese travellers have visited for winter activities in the year 2017-2018. The figure shows a 16% growth in numbers than the previous year.
This figure has upturned because of cheaper tour packages incorporating higher-quality activities like exciting snow-themed activities – skiing, sledding, ice skatting and ice fishing etc., are offered to tourists with greater discounts.
During this period of 2017-2018, the tourism sector in China have made the business of about 330 billion yuan ($47.9 billion), which is a 22 percent additional gain as compared to the previous year ; reported by the Data Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently.
The report projected that tourism sector’s revenue will reach 680 billion yuan by the winters of 2021-2022 as a result of the number of tourists expected to reach at 340 million by that time.
Regarding the investments, the winter tourism industry has also witnessed a solid growth here as well.Report says the investment has reached approximately 540 billion yuan in the 2017-2018 winter season.
The report was published during the 5 days celebration of the third Jilin Ice and Snow Tourism Industry Expo and 22nd Changchun Ice and Snow Tourism Festival, held in northeast China’s Jilin Province recently. It is a popular winter destination for tourists to come and view the magnificent rime ice (Wusong) on trees along the banks of the Songhua River, (the only river in the region that flows in winter even).
Winter tourism in China has been thriving after Beijing winning the bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in 2015, Beijing is spirited to earn its name in all possible manner. And at the same time the other northeastern provinces of China named Hebei, Jilin and Heilongjiang are all set with their array of policies to promote winter tourism.
