So If you are anxious to know your gotra, then you can discover it out with a first of its kind ‘Gotra Tourism’ package to be offered soon by Uttarakhand government.
As revealed by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat,his government is planning to bring in Gotra(clan) tourism soon in the state that would woo tourists to visit the state and get acknowledged with their family genealogy. With this visitors can visit the places of these sages after whom the places are named.
He added efforts his government would develop those sites to tourist hotspots where those seven sages meditated. Also for each gotra they are going to develop logos so that people associate with their gotras will easily recognise without any hassle.
The campaign to digitalise the state tourism department has also been launched.
As per the Hindu belief, Saptarishis,the name recalled the seven sages — Kashyap, Atri, Vashishtha, Vishwamitra, Gautam, Jamadagni and Bharadwaj —were the creator of gotras. To this list, Agastya is also occasionally added.All these eight sages are called gotrakarins,from whom all 49 gotras (especially of the Brahmins) have originated.
In connection to the development Tourism secretary Dilip Jawalkar said that might go ahead and put all details of family ancestry online, which will motivate people to come to Uttarakhand to know about their family lineage and also update it on a regular basis. The plan is still in its early phase and the basic assignments still needs to be done.
