Men’s World Cup Hockey Kicks off today with Grand Opening Ceremony│Special Tour Packages arranged for Visitors by Odisha Tourism

The Odisha State Government is acting on every possibility to catch  the world attention towards the state during this global mega sports event of the world which  kicks off today with a grand opening ceremony this afternoon.This Hockey World Cup is scheduled to be held from 27 November till 16 December.

Music Maestro AR Rahman,Bollywood superstar Sahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit will be the star attractions during the opening ceremony at Kalinga stadium,in Bhubaneswar,the state capital of Odisha  and Super star Salman Khan will be seen in action for opening ceremony at Barbati stadium tomorrow.

For this opening event state government of Odisha has declared holiday for  schools and Educational institutions. A communication from Chief Minister’s office said that all educational Institutions in Bhubaneswar will be remain closed today  where as Educational Institutions across state will be functional till 1.30pm today.

On this big occasion, Odisha Tourism has designed special tour packages for the guests, titled -‘Odisha by Day and Hockey by Night’. The tour packages cover the areas of in and around the state capital.Visitors will have the opportunity to travel around Bhubaneswar under these packages.

According to the tourism minister of Odisha Ashok chandra Panda,”The primary goal is to encourage sports tourism, which can be accomplished with the excitement of the hockey matches and furthermore visiting the phenomenal tourist locations of Odisha at the same time. So it is appropriately named ‘Odisha by Day and Hockey by Night’.”

The packages have also been  designed accordingly. In the day time the guests can enjoy the close-by tourists spots and  can return to the city by the evening to cheer for their desired  hockey teams.

The packages, comprises of one-day and half-day trips, inside the city and will cost  Rs 1245 for the domestic tourists and Rs 1880 for the foreign tourists. Where as the outskirts tour packages are fixed within the range of Rs 1335 -1720 for locals and Rs 1980-2355 for foreign travellers.

Inside the city, they will cover places like the tribal museum , Khandagiri and Udaygiri caves, State Museum, Rajarani temple, Mukteswar temple, Lingaraj temple and Dhauli Peace pagoda while outside Bhubaneswar the packages are set to Raghurajpur-Puri-Konark-Pipili, Chilika Lake (Satapada, Barkul, Parikuda) and to Buddhist legacy locales like Lalitgiri, Udaygiri and Ratnagiri. Further the services are facilitated with air-conditioned transports, lunch, mineral water, entry fee and  tourist guides.

As indicated by state sports and tourism secretary Vishal Dev, ‘The state endeavoured  displaying its tourism potential before the world through this uber sports occasion. With this aim, the Hockey World Cup has already been advertised in various nations in advance.’
