Inaugurated this November and much in recent news the ‘Signature bridge’ witnessed two accidents in a close interval of 24 hours. This is the second such accident since its inauguration by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on November 4 and opened for public on 5th of November.
Last Saturday two bikers skidded off the Signature Bridge.The deceased, identified as Shankar was driving the bike and his cousin Deepak was the pillion rider.The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital where Shankar declared dead and Deepak sustained knee injuries.Police said both were wearing helmets,but Shankar’s helmet fell off after skidding and his head hit the divider.
Last Friday two bikers killed when their bike fell off the bridge after hitting a divider.The victim duo were medical students lost their life after they fell off the Signature Bridge.The two fell approximately 40 feet down the bridge after their bike rammed into a divider. They were “apparently driving at high speed” on a KTM motorcycle and not wearing helmets, the police said.
Initially, there were reports of the duo performing stunts or taking selfies at the bridge. However, police ruled it out after investigation on spot. The bike was seen hanging from a railing and the riders fell to death
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has expressed concern on the accidents on the bridge.”I appeal to all citizens, especially the youth, to exercise caution while taking selfies at the Signature Bridge and not drive fast on it,” Mr Kejriwal tweeted.
With two accidents in two days, the newly-constructed Signature Bridge has become a death trap. People are often seen taking selfies by climbing the suspension cables of the bridge,Sources said.
