The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Yogendra Tripathy as the new Tourism Secretary to Government of India.IAS Tripathy,a 1985 batch Karnataka cadre is the current Chairman and Managing Director of Food Corporation of India.He will take over from Rashmi Verma,a 1982 Bihar Cadre IAS on her superannuation on November 30,2018.
Tripathy has been associated with FCI since July 30, 2015.He also served at various levels of the government at the State, Karnataka, and in the Central departments during his more than three- decade long career. He was Commissioner of Tourism in Karnataka between 2005 and 2006 and also served as Commissioner of Taxes and Commissioner of Bangalore Metro.
Since 2013 when Tripathy was in central deputation, he served at Human Resource Ministry as Jt Secretary and Ministry of Food & Consumer Affairs as Additional Secretary before being appointed as CMD of FCI.
