Hong Kong bridged with Mainland China-World’s longest Sea bridge opens to traffic

After nine years of elongated delays,the 55 kilometer and $15 billion world’s longest sea bridge finally opened for traffic on 24th October,officials said.This sea-crossing bridge brings Mainland China closer to former European Colonies Hong Kong and Macau and it will facilitate estimated 29000 cars and trucks to drive over the sea road connecting the destinations on a daily basis.

This mega project is a far-reaching visioned goal of President Xi Jinping to put together and strengthen the Greater Bay Area in southern Guangdong province into a high-tech megalopolis to contend Silicon Valley in California and foreseeing a healthier bonding between China’s super business strength with the commercial stronghold Hong Kong and Macau having their trade policies, own passports, currencies, courts and civil rights.The Greater Bay area would connect the resourceful affluent Hong Kong with close proximity of Shenzhen province and the casinos of Macau.It requires special permit to drive on the road heading to destinations on both sides.

According to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Authority,about 4,00,000 metric tons of steel used in structuring the project that was enough to erect 55 Eiffel towers.The bridge is positioned on one of the world’s busiest sea routes passing on of 4000 vessels,1800 flights, annually 20 million people and 1.2billion tons of goods.

This sea bridge is the most recent connection between Hong Kong to mainland China.In september Hong Kong was connected with world’s longest high-speed rail network of China. that would cut the length of trip from Hong Kong to Bejing to nine hours and would charge half of the cost of the air travel boosting the tourism links further.
