North east in general is especially lovely and clean. Yet, a few must have known that there’s a captivating modest village called Mawlynnong in Meghalaya which has been awarded with the title, “Asia’s Cleanest Village.” It is assuredly clean, green, and staggering.
Mawlynnong is only 78 km far from Shillong and making a trip to this little town with only 500 individuals in it is an excellent voyage trailing in the midst of the lovely greeneries and dim green slopes. The most alluring thing about the little town and its kin is that its kin are very systematic and well instructed to know how to use their squanders and keep up neatness in and around the town. One can notice bamboo dustbins hanging all over in the whole village with the paths and streets impeccably perfect and green indicating the sightseers to keep up the equivalent while being in the town.
Furthermore, besides being the cleanest, the village has got something even more exciting and memorable concept of living root bridge, the Riwai root bridge – a stunning living root bridge arranged by interlacing the roots of a living rubber tree. To witness the passing of the surging waters of the Thyllong River through the bridge, is an absolute delight for the voyagers. Sightseers and voyagers coming to explore the shrouded excellence of Meghalaya have even accepted seeing “some of the world’s most unique architecture” in Meghalaya.
