The state transport expert on Thursday conceded permit to Zoom Car India, a self-drive car rental service, in front of the Men’s Hockey World Cup booked to start one month from now. Even though the service had been introduced much before, this has got license now.
A transport division official said this was the principal permit issued in the state under the “rent – a – car scheme” under which anybody carrying a valid driving license for light engine vehicles can avail the facility . According to the transport commissioner Sanjeeb Panda, these arrangements have been made taking into account the inflow of foreign guests to the state capital during the hockey tournament .
“The sightseers can hire a car and drive it with all their convenience. In various foreign countries such practice is very familiar”, further added Mr. Panda.
In another statement, a transport official has made it clear that, the fare and different charges will be chosen by the operator and all sorts of complaints of the buyers will be addressed by the transport office itself.
The state is expecting 20,000 more foreign guests at the time of the hockey worldcup tournament and has planned to accomodate them evenly at Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri . Hence the plan will be helpful for the guests who will stay at Cuttack and Puri.
Thirty-six matches will be played in the competition that starts on November 28. The last match will be played on December 16. To avail the scheme , one needs to download the application and transfer the photos of the driving license and Aadhaar card for confirmation. After check the individual needs to pay Rs 5,000 as security cash and Rs 70 as least recharge per hour for the cab .
“At present, we have five cars that will be expanded to 50 when the event starts. All our vehicles are outfitted with GPS system. We presently have one center at Patia and are likewise intending to think of another at the airport,” said an authority of the organization.
