Two researchers from United States and Japan were awarded the Noble prize for medicine this Monday for their startling discoveries on fighting against cancer.Their back-breaking work on this huge discovery started in the 1990s and was part of significant advances in cancer immunotherapy.
Jeremy Berg, editor-in-chief of the Science family of journals told the associated press “The number of different types of cancers for which this approach to immunotherapy is being found to be effective in at least some patients continue to grow”.Where Allison studied a known protein and developed the concept into a new treatment approach,Honjo descovered a new protein that also operated as brake on immne cells. Both of them have expressed their happiness and gratefulness on receiving this prestigious award.
