Giving respite to inhabitants of flood affected Kerala,External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has declared renewing of all damaged passports totally free of cost. She tweeted, “There are devastated floods in Kerala causing massive damage. We have decided that as the situation becomes normal, passports damaged on account of floods shall be replaced absolutely free of cost. The concerned Passport Kendras will provide all support to get back the renewal one.
Around 10 of the 14 districts of Kerala have been influenced by the heavy floods and the state has been going through enormous adversities. In this catastrophe more than 35 individuals have lost their lives and a huge number of individuals were rendered destitute.
NDRF staff and a few segments of armed force, naval force, coast guard and ai have been conveyed to attempt help and safeguard activities in the state.
Rs 10 lakh compensation to the individuals who lost their homes and Rs 4 lakh to the individuals who lost their family members have been announced by the CM. As reported by the State Finance Minister Thomas Isaac on Monday that around Rs 8000 crore material loss had been recorded because of rain-related cataclysms.
A notice submitted to the middle asked for the centre to discharge assets to the tune of Rs 1,220 crore from the National Disaster Relief Fund as prompt alleviation. But, only Rs 100 crore has been conceded for the relief.
